Aquatic snail, species and egg help please?

By admin On March 27, 2010 Comments Off

We have an aquatic snail that was on the fish tank weed we bought (we always scrub the weed, but he was obviously persistent!) We dont know the species, it is a tropical tank and he is growing well so he is obviously able to live in warm waters

This is an image of him:

Could anyone tell us the species?

Also it looks like there are eggs in a gooey substance on the plants and back of the tank near the heater. Will these hatch by themselves, or is a male needed?

Thank you.
