Malayan Water Monitor @ Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve, S’pore

By admin On September 27, 2010 Comments Off

A very common species of Monitor Lizard in S’pore, the Malayan water Monitor can be found easily within wetlands and even in large drains in the City Area. When adults, their only predator is the Reticulated Python, and given the fact that there was a baby inhabiting our school grounds, this species is easily transported to different places via drains. The one here is a medium sized monitor found in Sungei Buloh Wetland Reserve, Singapore. Enjoy the video.

Coscoroba Swans preening (London Wetland Centre) -2

By admin On September 21, 2010 Comments Off

These are a pair of S American swans (or geese, there’s some debate) that are displayed at the London Wetland Centre. They spend a lot of time preening, and sometimes the way they do it is quite spectacular involving rushing across their pool. They tend to do everything together. Sorry about noises off! The centre is open to the public, and right under the Heathrow airport approach (roughly one arrival every 45 seconds I think!)
