New XiXi Wetland Region – Hanghzou
Woods Bagot was awarded first place for the Xi Xi Wetland region Master plan by the Hangzhou Planning Bureau in China. The historic 3600 Hectare region located in the heart of Hangzhou City will combine with the famous Westlake to reposition Hangzhou as the leading cultural – eco tourism destination. The XiXi park region will be recognized as an environmental leader with outstanding environmental performance and new green industries driving economic growth. The Xixi park region will reduce its carbon emissions with a network of green infrastructure to reduce energy, Wetland ecology, water demands, led by major renewal sites. Ian Hau – Urban Design Practice Leader Asia said, “Hangzhou will reposition as one of Chinas global cities and as a international gateway with its world class tourism attractions and sustained investment in cultural and creative infrastructure, icons and amenity. The XiXi park region will be a catalyst for this global repositioning. The XiXi park region will contain premium spaces for business activities and employment with a primary tourism focused. Also supporting social, cultural and recreational facilities to nurture and attract global investment and talent.
